Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth

Sometimes you should accept a gift for what it is… and other times maybe not. Your protagonist is granted 1 wish from a genie and for their wish they choose magic. Their wish is granted (awesome) but the power they are gifted is totally useless. For example they can make water fall - but only when it rains, or maybe they can turn invisible but when no one is watching. Your goal is to drop your protagonist into a bad situation and they need to solve it using only their (useless) magic and their wits.
